Excellent opportunity to work with a young, innovative charity called Link Up (UK). We deal with issues of citizenship by developing projects that promote a sense of community and belonging. Our flagship Great British Community project (GBC) takes a truly innovative approach to this arena, combating racism and prejudice by highlighting the benefits that diversity has brought to the UK.

Throughout British history, diversity has added to the identity and make up of Britain today. Whether our language, or music and foods which have come from different communities but have been absorbed into the British identity – diversity has truly benefited this country.

The GBC will be a fully interactive programme using social, tradtional media and the internet to get this message across to the widest audiences.

We are looking for 2 social media interns to help develop our on-line presence, updating and generating content, posting articles in appropriate forums, monitoring site usage, researching social media innovations as well as developing ideas for on-line games.

Candidates should be confident SM users, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest. Experience of SM management systems such as Hootsuite and TweetDeck would be beneficial as would be experience of blogging. A knowledge and application of HTML, WordPress, and other programmes including Photoshop and Illustrator would be of advantage.

Candidates should have an interest in social cohesion/ diversity. They must be able to plan and manage projects successfully, to work independently and with initiative, prioritising own workloads and meeting deadlines and have the ability to communicate effectively.

We are looking for interns to work for anything from 6 weeks upwards, a minimum of 3 days a week. In return we can offer a fun, supportive and engaging work environment. Each intern will have a specific work plan developed for them, and we will look to identify and support any skills development opportunities.

We are looking for applicants to start as soon as possible, but we are flexible on start dates. Interviews will take place within 2 weeks of receipt of successful applications. We may appoint before the closing date, so applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
